Prostate Health Breakfast Recipes

Cranberry muffins

To help you on the road to good prostate health we have put together a couple of healthy eating ideas for breakfast. If you are not eating or exercising as much as you should be, then it’s never too late to make lifestyle changes. Changes that can have a significant impact on your health, no matter how old, or out of shape one might be.

Eating a healthy breakfast is a great way to start your day, not only will it keep you going ‘till lunch, but it will also kick start your metabolism; helping you to burn off meals more efficiently for the rest of the day.

Cranberry Walnut Muffins, Ingredients:

 An  orange peel
2 eggs, beaten gently
1/2 cup silken tofu|
1 teaspoon baking powder
1-1/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
 1/4 cup soy flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
1/3 cup walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup sugar


Recipe:
 Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Process the orange peel and sugar until the sugar is orange, pour into a bowl with your tofu, eggs and oil, then whisk until it’s nice and smooth.

Stir your flower, soda and baking powder in a separate bowl and mix well. Add your cranberries and walnuts and mix it all together, then add the two bowls together and stir until the batter is lumpy; don’t over mix or the muffins will be tough. Then add your mixture to 12 tins and bake for 15 minutes.

Nutrition: 166 calories, 4 grams protein , 5.7 grams fat, 35 milligrams cholesterol,  1 grams fiber, 0.7 grams saturated fat, ,

If you don’t have the time or inclination to bake muffins then how about this one, or even better both!

Banana Smoothie, Quick and Easy Ingredients: 

 2 average sized bananas, sliced
8  ounces, low fat, vanilla yogurt
1 1/2 cups skim milk
 1 cup of crushed ice
 1  teaspoon wheat germ toasted
A dash of nutmeg or cinnamon
 


Recipe:
 Blend your yogurt, low fat milk, ice cubes and toasted wheat germ,  as the name would imply, blend until it’s smooth. Pour into a glass and add a light sprinkling of nutmeg or cinnamon depending on your preference.


Nutrition:
 1 gram of fat, with virtually no saturated fat, 3 grams of fiber, 164 milligrams of sodium and 13 grams of protein.

Maintaining prostate health starts at home, with you looking after your body through healthy eating and daily exercise. As they say, variety is the spice of life, so improving your diet so that it includes as much fruit and vegetables as possible will set you on the right track, and is a great way to kick-start your day.
